In addition to this community liaison, the ICPR has a well-established connection to MTI counseling and psychological intervention services through its members.

Members

Experience. Most IRPC members not only have a long clinical practice or intervention <g class="gr_ gr_7 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Punctuation only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="7" data-gr-id="7">experience,</g> but also have a strong dedication to research. Including all researchers, 426 publications are recorded, including national and international articles, communications in proceedings, books, and book chapters. They also have among themselves 8 awards, mainly in scientific communications. Efforts have also been made to convert research results into benefits for populations that have agreed to participate in research, including intervention, treatment, or rehabilitation programs.

Activity. Most ICPR members have also been very active in coordinating training courses. Over the last years, the team carried out five projects funded by MTI (without public funding), supervised 180 master dissertations and 4 Ph.D., presented 114 communications at scientific events, and published 110 papers, 12 books, and 20 book chapters.

Roles. The team is comprised of very dynamic members. A considerable number of its members play relevant roles in many scientific fields: editorship a national journal (Revista Portuguesa de Investigação Comportamental e Social [Portuguese Journal of Behavioral and Social Research]) and an international journal (Human Reproduction); membership of scientific/professional associations [e.g., Association for Contextual and Behavioral Science; “Critical Software” Company (a <g class="gr_ gr_14 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="14" data-gr-id="14">renowed</g> Coimbra’s company); Education Committee of the Portuguese Psychoanalytic Society; European Association of Family Therapy; Portuguese Society of Family Therapy; European Society of Reproductive Medicine and Embryology; Portuguese Association of Behavioral Therapy; Portuguese Association for Mindfulness); Membership and coordination of scientific (Scientific Council of MTI), and clinical (Department of Psychotherapeutic Intervention and its Counseling Services) boards or teams; foundation and membership of the MTI Ethics Committee; and coordination of undergraduate and master’s degree courses at the MTI. The whole group has been attractive to other researchers at home and abroad, documented by the increasing number of national and international Ph.D. students and by the work with researchers from other countries.

Team. ICRP integrates two senior researchers, with long academic careers, and somewhat younger ones, still enthusiastic and inventive, from various social sciences areas. The team integrates two medical doctors and renowned psychoanalysts with a strong clinical investment on mental health issues, but also a life dedicated to teaching, supervising, and writing. Other members are either psychologists from various areas (cognitive-behavior therapy, systemic therapies, mental health, third-wave cognitive-behavior therapies, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis) or social workers with both a Ph.D. degree in psychology and/or Social Work. The team also includes a researcher from both the area of computer science and psychology and another from both the area of management and psychology. This combination is determinant for a balanced team apt to conduct fundamental and applied research and to understand new psychological-health, neuropsychological, and social problems, and assessment.

Papers Proceedings Books and book chapters Other production Assessment Instrument Institutional relations and community extension Through Miguel Torga Institute (ISMT), the Interdisciplinary Center for Psychosocial Research (CIIPSO) has well-established links with several institutions and associations of the District of Coimbra, including associations and day care centers/long-term care homes for vulnerable people, health institutions, companies, counties, […]
